No makeup spending ban

Hello lovely people! I do apologise from the bottom of my heart for being MIA from my blog post, I know I have mentioned on my Facebook page I will begin doing blogs again once I go on my break but unfortunately I have come across some personal issues which I had to take care off while I was on my break, so I have been busy trying to find a new place which I have and I am really excited for new beginnings!

My motivation for this is because since I am moving out for the first time on my own I need to cut down on my spending and focus on what I need for my new home. After I had moved out I realised how much stuff I needed i.e. couches, pots, pans, cutlery etc. so it's going to take me a while to save up for those things especially when I need to save for my rent as well and prepare myself for the utilities bill and other expenses, It's going to be a long process unpacking because now I am back at work and have been going out a lot I have had no time to unpack properly. Let's get down to tips on how I manage not to spend money on makeup:

1. Shopping your stash
Take time and go through your makeup stash thoroughly and maybe make a list of what you have already in an excel spreadsheet or word in a table. Now I didn't make a list but I had a good look through my makeup collection and the amount of unused/untouched makeup was shocking and I thought to myself "What is the point of buying makeup when you are not going to use it at  all?". This statement is true so my goal this year is to use my untouched makeup as I have 3 draws full of it!

2. Fight the temptation
I recently saw the release of Chanel's Sunkiss ribbon blush which I really badly wanted but as you know Chanel's prices in Australia is over the roof and no shock it was priced $90! I kept stalking the David Jones' website many times to see if it was still in stock (which it was) there were a few times I wanted to purchase it, but luckily I told my friend about it and she cut some sense into me. You got to really ask yourself "Do you really need this?" and "Will you ever use it?" to be honest with myself if I had purchased this blush I would have never used it because the design is just to pretty to ruin and its limited edition. I have other Chanel's limited edition products which I have never used before nor did I wanted to touch them because of those two reasons. Now if I check back on the website it is out of stock and I did not regret not buying it at all.

3. Keep track
Have you ever asked yourself after a day out with your friend which involved shopping "How did I end up with that amount in my bank account?". Which you thought in the first place you would of had more money then you try to calculate how much you've spent but it never adds up to what is in your bank account? There are easy to use and free apps you can download on your phone which you can keep track on your expenses. I personally use to use it but I found it very had to input all the spending I did in a day plus I tend to forget to do it.

4. Know the difference
As I have already stated in the first paragraph of this blog familiarise yourself the difference between what you want and what you need and I was first told this statement by my mother. When you go into the cosmetic store ask yourself "Do I really need this?" let's be realistic here you seriously don't! You only require that product if you have ran out of it at home but other than that you honestly don't. Focus on what you really need for example now that I have moved out and have enough makeup after I pass on from this life I'd rather have a roof for my makeup then have a full face of makeup with no roof to live under, I have been in that situation before it was really tough and I do not want to go through that again.

5. Get support
Find a friend/s that can go along with you in this challenge or have a friend that you can talk to about this so that way he/she can knock some sense into you! It's good to have someone that will help you resist the temptation and get you back to reality.

This concludes my blog post I hope you have found some of my tips helpful and if that wasn't enough for you there are plenty of tips on the Internet and on YouTube which may be of help to you. Don't get me wrong it ain't going to be easy for me to not purchase makeup as I am one of many makeup addicts and to feed my addiction I need makeup to satisfy me, I will be down for a while but I know in the end it will benefit me. Just to give you guys an update it has been two months I have not bought any makeup! The last time I purchased makeup was on 4/12/15 after my last Sephora Sydney trip.
